The Puzzle Structures Determine the Puzzle Quality
“Structure” means the spreading of clue fields (or black fields for standard crossword puzzles) in the grid of the puzzle. There are nine automatically generated structure styles for arrowwords as well as for standard crossword puzzles. The selection of the structure styles is an option of the blueprints or an option of the Structure Editor (optional manual modification of the structure). The general rule for crossword puzzle structures is “the more intercrossed the better”.
1. Blocker
This is the only single-clue structure that matches the standard of English language arrowwords.
2. Taff
The central segment of this structure is almost 100 % intercrossed. Two-letter words are possible but very seldom.
3. Flitter
This structure is similar to "Taff", but does not use any two-letter words.
4. Total/Extreme
The central segment of this structure is 100 % intercrossed. This structure does not use any two-letter words.
There are five more structures that are only of interest to some Central European countries but are not used for the English market.
